6 Noble Virtues

According to a popular verse of Neeti Sara which is written by a man, the 6 Noble Virtues a housewife should have are summed up in the verse, ‘Karyeshu Dasi, Karaneshu Manthri, Bhojeshu Mata, Shayaneshu Rambha, Roopeshu lakshmi, Kshamayeshu Dharitri, Shat dharmayukta, Kuladharma Pathni’. Wifely virtues are also described in Tulasi Ramayana (Sri Ramacharitamanasa) Aranya Kanda verse 4 as advice given to Sita by Sage Atri’s wife Ansuya.

1) Karyeshu Dasi: works like a servant
2) Karaneshu Mantri : advises like a minister
3) Bhojeshu Mata: feeds like a mother
4) Shayaneshu Ramba : Pleases in bed like the heavenly beauty Rambha
5) Roopeshu Lakshmi : Beautiful like Goddess Lakshmi
6) Kshmayeshu Dharitri : Having patience like Earth
7) Shat dharma yuktah: woman who has this six virtues
8) Kula dharma Patni : good housewife (a married woman who is not employed outside the home)

In short, a good housewife should
be like a servant in doing the chores of the house,
give intelligent advice like a minister to her husband
serve food to the husband as lovingly as a mother feeds her son
like a courtesan in the bedroom,
beautiful like Maha Lakshmi and
have the forbearance of Mother Earth.

TERA - Marraige

The TERA ( Sacred Curtain) is actually considered The SACHI DEVI ROOPAM ( Wife of Indra).She always prays , Indras wife Lalita or Gowri and even got a name in Lalita sahasra naamam as Pulomajaarchitaa. This brought Indra Position to her Husband Indra .So this Tera is seen sacredly and worshiped after dipping the New white Cotton cloth (that is being used as TERA, ) in Turmeric water to make is sacred and Gowri pooja is done by Bride before arriving on to the Dias.This Tera is also WORSHIPED then and brought with respect to Dias. The curtain is so placed in between Vadhu and Varudu. The bride`s father calls or requests Three Brahmins from Bridegroom side (elders) who respects Shastras and Vedas, to come on to to the Dias and Similarly TWO members from bride`s side.These Five 3 one side and                                                                                                                                                      
two other side hold the curtain with respect in such a position that the Bride and Groom Can not see each other.At the Sumuhartam time this Curtain is with respect slowly lowered only a few inches so that the bride and bride groom can see each others eyes while place gaggery paste on Bramharandhra place . on the head , while placing this sacred paste, that unites their minds and synchronizes, their lives.,they each LOOK AT EACH other into eyes .This is the FIRST TIME and is called SUMUHURTAM. After this the Curtain,TERA is with respect slowly lowered and , folded and kept at the place of worship.
